Who owns the "Big Pharma" of America?
For several weeks now, an article called "The Same Shady People Own Big Pharma and the Media" has been doing the rounds on the Internet and social networks. The author of the article is Joseph Mercola. America has known him already for a long time - no less than the current president Joe Biden.
He is a professional physician with a medical practice of more than a quarter of a century. After graduating from university with a degree in biology and chemistry, he worked for a while as a pharmacist. He received additional education at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Since the early 1980s, he began working as an osteopath. Over time, he became a prominent representative of alternative medicine.
In 1997, he launched and has been running since that time his own website mercola.com, now considered the No. 1 information resource in the world for natural wellness. Currently, he is fully focused on educational activities in the field of medicine. He is an author of more than a dozen books on alternative medicine. He is an implacable opponent of Big Pharma. In the zero years, he was very active in exposing the shady deal of Big Pharma called "AIDS".
Currently, he is actively fighting the campaign of mass vaccination of people against COVID-19 both in the United States and around the world. Mercola is a like-minded public and political figure of Robert Kennedy Jr., the nephew of the American President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963.
Robert Kennedy and Joseph Mercola expose dirty games called "COVID-19 pandemic" and Klaus Schwab’s plans for the "Great Reset" of humanity. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that Mercola's book "The Truth About COVID-19: Exposing The Great Reset, Lockdowns, Vaccine Passports, and the New Normal" has just been published.
The co-author was Ronnie Cummins, founder and director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA). The preface to the book was written by Robert Kennedy Jr. Mercola's Book is his answer to Klaus Schwab, who exactly a year ago published the book "COVID-19: the Great Reset".
Mercola's article "The Same Shady People..." is regularly banned by Silicon Valley companies (Facebook, etc.), but two new ones appeared in place of the old one. Interest in this article is only growing, millions have already read it.
In the mentioned article, Mercola goes beyond the usual framework of criticism of Big Pharma. He is trying to understand who really manages Big Pharma, and why Big Pharma is achieving such incredible success in its business. And why, in particular, it succeeds to impose its COVID-19 vaccines, which are unsafe for health and life, on America. And Mercola reaches a metaphysical, if I may say so, level of understanding of the problem. He comes to the conclusion that all the leading pharmaceutical companies are run by the same people who are hiding behind the so-called "Big Two".
It refers to two giant investment companies - Vanguard Group and BlackRock. They manage mainly the assets of their corporate and individual clients. The amount of assets under management (AUM) is impressive: at Vanguard, they exceeded $7 trillion, and at BlackRock – over $9 trillion. Together, these are equivalent to about three-quarters of the US GDP.
Mercola begins his reasoning with the question: "What do the New York Times and most of the media have in common with Big Pharma?" And he responds that they are "mainly owned by BlackRock and Vanguard Group, the two largest asset management firms in the world." And he adds: "Moreover, it turns out that these two companies form a secret monopoly that owns almost everything else that you can think of."
The "Big Two" participates in the capitals of almost all corporations included in the S&P 500 index. As Joseph Mercola writes, the "Big Two" are in Big Pharma, Wall Street banks, Silicon Valley IT corporations (Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Alphabet Inc.), and in most of the leading media corporations - Time Warner, Comcast, Disney and News Corp - four of the six media companies that control more than 90% of the US media market.
And it is these media corporations that together with the Silicon Valley mafia, are intimidating America with the COVID-19 pandemic and imposing vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Novavax on it. The actions of the "Big Two" are aimed at obtaining the maximum synergistic effect of greed, deception and fear.
Joseph Mercola is not an economist, so he is limited to only some examples of the participation of the "Big Two" in the capitals of some pharmaceutical companies, and the figures are taken from secondary sources. Thus, Mercola refers to an information resource called “Simply Wall Street”, according to which in February 2020, BlackRock and Vanguard were the two largest shareholders of the pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline with 7% and 3.5% of shares, respectively.
At the same time, Joseph Mercola incited me to find specific figures about the participation of the "Big Two" in the capitals of the leading companies of "Big Pharma". At the end of 2019, Johnson & Johnson was ranked in the top 10 of "Big Pharma". Then (in descending order) followed: Pfizer Inc.; Merck & Co.; Abbvie Inc.; Bristol Myers Squibb; Abbott Laboratories; Amgen; Gilead Sciences; Eli Lilly and Company; Biogen Inc.
Fortunately, financial statements and other data on all ten mentioned companies are publicly available. I have studied the relevant sources, the results of the study are summarised in the following table.
The participation of the "Big Two" in the share capital of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the United States (% of the total share capital).
As you can see, both Vanguard Group and BlackRock are present in all the leading pharmaceutical companies in the United States. Moreover, the second corporation participates in the capitals of pharmaceutical companies through its subsidiary BlackRock Fund Advisors. In nine out of ten pharmaceutical companies, Vanguard Group is the main shareholder.
In one of the cases, the main shareholder is BlackRock Fund Advisors. In reality, the influence of the "Big Two" on pharmaceutical companies is greater than it is determined by the sum of the shares of Vanguard Group and BlackRock in the share capital. For the reason that some of the other shareholders, although they do not contain the words "Vanguard" and "BlackRock" in their names, are de facto under the control of the "Big Two" (through their participation in the share capital).
In addition, such investment companies as State Street and Fidelity participate in the equity capital of Big Pharma. Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street and Fidelity are commonly referred to as the"Big Four". There is a cartel agreement between them. As shareholders (in this case, shareholders of pharmaceutical corporations), the Big Four companies act in a coordinated manner.
For example, in Johnson & Johnson, State Street acts as the second shareholder with a 5.33% stake. Taking into account State Street, the participation of three investment companies in the share capital is already 18.31%. In Pfizer Inc. taking into account State Street as the second shareholder (4.91%), the share of the three investment companies is 17.42%.
The article mentioned above by Mercola is also valuable because it contains links to interesting sources on the topic "COVID-19 and Big Pharma". Thus, the author refers to the report of the international non-governmental organisation “Global Justice Now” from December 2020 "The terrible history of Big Pharma".
According to Mercola, the authors of the report "consider the shameful history of seven leading pharmaceutical companies in the world that are currently developing and producing drugs and "vaccines" against COVID-19 based on genes, while the mainstream media are helping to suppress information about easily accessible old drugs that have been shown to have a high degree of effectiveness against infection."
These are the most easily accessible old drugs that Mercola has been promoting for many years through its information resource mercola.com. As for the report itself, it can be found here. The report contains very interesting details on those American pharmaceutical companies that are presented in my table.
