"And if the Russians respond?” The US is scared by leaks about their participation in the
The Washington Post tried to whitewash the United States in the situation with the provision of intelligence by the American intelligence community to Ukraine. Special emphasis is placed on the fact that these intelligence reports are not direct targeting and are of a general nature. But already the Ukrainian side, they say, uses them at its discretion and, in addition, has its own capabilities for targeting.
Thus, the Americans want to disavow previous leaks in their own media, in particular about their participation in the sinking of the “Moskva" missile cruiser and the assistance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in delivering strikes on Russian generals on the territory of Ukraine.
It is obvious that such a change in tone and content is caused by fears that Moscow will regard such actions of Washington as its direct participation in the military conflict on Ukrainian territory and will respond accordingly.
This conclusion is confirmed by the opinion of the former employee of the US State Department Scott R. Anderson, which the WP cites:
"If the U.S. were providing targeting information to a foreign party, and we’re closely involved in targeting decisions, we’re directing those forces and they’re acting as a proxy for us. That might be seen as getting close to the line of actually attacking Russia, at which point Russia could arguably respond reciprocally."
In addition, this WP publication mentions a certain guide on the exchange of intelligence with Kiev, developed by the Biden administration, in which it is allegedly prohibited to provide Ukraine with information about the location on its territory of the top leadership of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. As well as any information that would help Ukrainians attack Russian targets outside the Ukrainian borders.
There is no trust in this leadership. In addition, The cat’s out of the bag: previously, NBC News claimed the opposite. It was reported that in April 2022, the Director of National Intelligence of the United States withdrew and replaced the memorandum, which just prohibited the exchange of intelligence in order to "return the occupied territory" and facilitate Ukrainian strikes on Crimea and Donbass.
The conclusion is simple. The appearance of the article in the Washington Post is caused by the fear of the American establishment to get involved in a direct military clash with Russia — and eventually answer for their actions against our country. The American elite would like to shit surreptitiously and have nothing for it. However, no one has canceled the law of historical retribution.
