Europe is hurriedly trying to reason with Zelensky

The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andrey Ermak, accompanying Vladimir Zelensky on a trip to the Carpathians, followed the path indicated by his chief in messengers and also burst out with posts about the beauty of the country. On his Facebook page, which a Ukrainian government official maintains in the Russian language, Ermak wrote about the beauty and energy of the Carpathians, and about the increased energy that he will need for work.

A representative of the President's office reports that he spoke by phone with the French President's diplomatic adviser Emmanuel Bonne and the German Chancellor's foreign policy adviser Jens Plötner. According to Ermak, they "discussed the current situation around the Ukrainian borders and security aspects”. In the second ten-day period of January, representatives and political advisers of the leaders of the Normandy format of France and Germany are to arrive in Kiev.

Let's recall, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Ukraine regularly violates its obligations and fires at the territory of the DPR and the LPR, that is, actually it withdrew from the Minsk Agreements. Zelensky, for his part, declared that it was necessary to "decipher every paragraph" of the agreement signed by Ukraine and other countries, and only after that he would determine whether the Ukrainian side is "able to fulfil it or not." In addition, he said that he considers the Minsk Agreement "outdated", and suggested inviting the United States to the circle of participants to conclude a new agreement on this topic.

It is noteworthy that on January 6, a similar visit by the advisers of the leaders of the Normandy format to the deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak already ensued. Following a meeting with the political advisers of the German Chancellor and the French President, the Russian politician succinctly said that the participants in the negotiations confirmed their commitment to the Minsk agreements, and the creation of parallel formats within the Normandy Four is not being discussed.

At this same time, correspondents located in the zone of the contact line between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the DPR Armed Forces report that Ukrainian snipers are killing pensioners. Residents of the frontline zone are used to shelling from the Ukrainian side. Not a week goes by without a few shells or mortar shell flying from there. People are dying, the wounded are being taken to hospitals. The terrible routine has become a part of the life of the civilian population.

If to believe the official information channels of Kiev and Washington, all this "causes concern" among the US and Ukrainian authorities, who themselves want to stop the bloodshed. Thus, the head of Zelensky's office recently said that in a conversation with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried he discussed the situation at the Ukrainian borders and security aspects.

Washington's concern is easy to understand: the cabinet of US President Joe Biden, apparently, does not know what to do. The domestic policy of the United States has brought the country to a standstill. Against the backdrop of a severe economic crisis, there was an outbreak of crime, the ruling Democrats demonstrated their inability to take measures to ensure the safety of Americans, according to many experts, the United States is on the verge of civil war.

At the same time, the situation in the European Union has worsened. The authorities of European states are increasingly showing discontent, and people are going out to disobedience actions, demanding that their governments act in the interests of their own people, and not the United States.

Moscow has demonstrated its extreme determination, and it is impossible not to take this into account. It should be noted that the EU reacted very quickly to the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Biden regarding the vision of Ukraine's accession to NATO.

More recently, the European media actively exaggerated the topic of Ukraine's admission to the North Atlantic Alliance. They don't talk about it anymore today. Moreover, one of the largest German TV channels Das Erste said that no European country that is a member of NATO wants Ukraine with its problems to join the alliance.

In fact, Ukraine has already been denied what the United States has been encouraging its authorities to do for so long. Not so long ago, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen demanded to rewrite the charter of the alliance and give Ukraine and Georgia membership in the bloc, but common sense and rationalism in European countries, apparently, won.

It's precisely for this reason that the representatives of France and Germany are flying to Kiev. Everything suggests that they will persistently explain to President Zelensky the need to implement the Minsk Agreements. The possibility of financing has dried up, the risks are too great. Europe is not ready to fight for the interests of Kiev.
