Israel and Iran have been playing to aggravate the situation in the region in recent days, each for their own purposes, but together it promises benefits to Russia.

The former, who is at war with Syria, entered into almost official correspondence with Assad — but only to threaten him with an airstrike on his personal residence "in case of an increase in Tehran's influence”. And as a warning of bombing the Syrian territory, aiming at units of either the IRGC or Hezbollah.

Tel Aviv behaves just as brazenly in Lebanon, with which it should, in fact, share the oil and gas shelf through the mediation of the US State Department emissary Amos Hochstein. There, Israeli fighters on a low-level flight simulated an attack on Nabatieh and were spotted near Tyre and Nakura — in the traditional zones of Hezbollah. In response, the Secretary General of the latter Nasrallah promised "at all levels" to prevent the Israelis from extracting oil and gas from the disputed shelf.

Iran, which is behind Hezbollah, is not sitting idle either. According to Bennett, it is "trying to damage Israeli facilities in Turkey in order to avenge the murder of an IRGC functionary." And with the hands of the same IRGC allegedly "developed an attack in Istanbul on Israeli tourists" who did not leave the city, despite warnings from Tel Aviv.

The confrontation between Iran and Israel — what could be more eternal? But today it is clearly escalating. The nuclear deal with Iran has already been thwarted. And now both countries in four hands seem to be trying to thwart Biden's plans, who is flying to the Saudis to beg for oil.

Both play into Russia's hands, driving oil quotes to sky-high heights, and the Western economy into an inflationary fever. Sergey Lavrov, who is going to Tehran, will no doubt find time to discuss this with his Iranian counterparts.
