"The US is sucking Ukrainian blood": why China ridicules the West's "help" to Ukraine
China is closely monitoring the progress of the special operation in Ukraine. The motives of the Celestial Empire are clear – using the example of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to study the weaknesses of its main enemy, which Beijing reasonably considers the United States, as well as to anticipate and level out the enemy's steps regarding the situation with Taiwan.
The second Ukraine
Let's recall that Taiwan took a step towards secession from China in 1949, when, as a result of the civil war, the remnants of the former ruling Kuomintang Party, led by the former leader of the republic Chiang Kai-shek, took refuge on the island. Beijing considers the territory of Taiwan as one of its provinces, while Taipei positions itself as the successor of the pre-communist Republic of China, retains its state symbols, considers the government of mainland China illegitimate and does not abandon mainland claims. The situation is such that many call it a "civil war that has reached a dead end”.
Officially, the islands of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu belong to the People’s Republic of China, any confrontation between the regions of China is essentially an internal issue, and both Taipei and Beijing are interested in its peaceful settlement. But it's not hard to guess that finding a compromise between the "two Chinas" has been hindered by a third party all these years. Under the guise of "democracy", the United States pursues its own goals in the region, and this is quite obvious.
Now the territorial claims of Taipei, as the heir of the Republic of China, have passed into the category of illusions. Unrecognised by most countries, the state, which has the 19th largest economy in the world, is trying to achieve "at least" its own independence. For example, Taiwan produces 40% of the global production of semiconductor chips. China produces the lion's share of the rest. Thus, in the event of the reunification of mainland and island China, Beijing will be able to fully control the global chip market, and this, you will agree, is a weighty argument. Without Chinese microchips, as well as without Russian energy carriers, the entire West will slide into the Stone Age.
This explains the methodical provocations by the United States in the Taiwan region: starting with the supply of weapons to Taipei and ending with the visit of US Senator Lindsey Graham — the same one who offered the Russians to "kill Putin”.
"Americans are on a dangerous path," Chinese politicians warn.
The analogy with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict artificially created by NATO countries is obvious. The nickname “the second Ukraine" has firmly stuck for Taiwan. The inhabitants of the Celestial Empire themselves perfectly understand and soberly assess what is happening in the former Soviet republic. Russia has been dragged into this conflict, the Global Times columnists write and note that in the event of an escalation of the Taiwan conflict, it will have to do the same.
The ultimate target is Russia
According to Chinese political analysts, the United States is only imitating solidarity with Ukraine, profiting from the conflict: "The US is the largest beneficiary of a protracted war in Ukraine. The country's military-industrial complex has made a considerable sum of money from conflicts." Unlike Russia and even Europe, they do not care about restoring peace in the region.
The Chinese Global Times commented on the actions of the United States by saying that Russia, Ukraine and Europe are interested in resolving the crisis and are trying to find common ground, despite the contradictions. But the US has a different tactic. It is beneficial to them that the conflict lasts as long as possible.
The territories of America are far from the combat zone and do not bear direct damage. According to Chinese experts, Washington's main goal is to prolong the conflict as much as possible in order to maximise losses for Russia and thereby weaken it.
Thus, at the conference "In search of Peace and Development Assistance: online dialogue of expert and analytical centres of 20 countries" held in Beijing, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Yucheng rather sharply noted that "Western countries intend to use Ukraine as "cannon fodder" to weaken Russia”. The diplomat stressed that under the guise of cooperation with Kiev, the United States and its satellites are sacrificing Ukrainians to satisfy their hegemonic ambitions and geopolitical goals.
Considering our mistakes
Taking into account the fact that Russia has been successful on the combat front, but clearly was not ready for battles on the information one, Beijing pays special attention to the issues of proper propaganda. Special seminars have been launched for teachers and lecturers explaining how to properly cover the situation in Ukraine. The theses are clear and explicit: Ukraine is a former republic of the Soviet Union, now a corrupt and failed country in which fascism has penetrated into all spheres. Russia's goal is liberatory and humanitarian.
In the same way very clearly, without skimping on eloquent analogies, Chinese news outlets translate Western slogans from "democratic" to publicly available ones. Thus, the military "assistance" of the United States to Ukraine is openly ridiculed and called a long-term loan.
"The US is a vampire who makes money from chaos and war. Ukrainians' blood will be sucked by the US not only now, but also after the war is over," the Global Times evaluates the lend-lease conditions.
Biden's careless juggling of labels also did not go unnoticed — not so long ago, the US president accused Russia of "genocide" during his speech in Iowa. “No one knows what genocide really means better than the US,” the Chinese retorted: "Let's not forget that the US was built on genocide," Shen said, adding that the US slaughtered indigenous peoples, took their land, and established the country." In light of the incorrect statement of the head of the White House, the Global Times did not hesitate to point out the incompetence and inefficiency of the Biden administration in the US governance.
A single point of view, courage and straightforwardness of statements, patriotic education, the removal of “effeminate men” and propaganda of “an easy life” from TV screens, the absence of liberal publications broadcasting “their own opinion” for grants from a potential enemy, and even the death penalty as capital punishment for serious crimes committed against citizens and the state are all links in the same chain that allows Beijing to maintain peace and stability both in its own country and on its borders.
